rand dependency from bdk
4bddb0de6262fb4014d51baf8c9453eb45a3d0ef feat(wallet): add back TxBuilder finish() and sort_tx() with thread_rng() (Steve Myers) 45c0cae0a461232bf746375083e2005c5df5f913 fix(bdk): remove rand dependency (rustaceanrob) Pull request description: ### Description WIP towards removing `rand` fixes #871 The `rand` dependency was imported explicitly, but `rand` is also implicitly used through the `rand-std` feature flag on `bitcoin`. ### Notes to he reviewers **Updated:** `rand` was used primarily in two parts of `bdk`. Particularly in signing and in building a transaction. Signing: - Used implicitly in [`sign_schnorr`](https://docs.rs/bitcoin/latest/bitcoin/key/struct.Secp256k1.html#method.sign_schnorr), but nowhere else within `signer`. Transaction ordering: - Used to shuffle the inputs and outputs of a transaction, the default - Used in the single random draw __as a fallback__ to branch and bound during coin selection. Branch and bound is the default coin selection option. See conversation for proposed solutions. ### Changelog notice - Remove the `rand` dependency from `bdk` ### Checklists #### All Submissions: * [x] I've signed all my commits * [x] I followed the [contribution guidelines](https://github.com/bitcoindevkit/bdk/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) * [x] I ran `cargo fmt` and `cargo clippy` before committing #### New Features: * [x] I've added tests for the new feature * [x] I've added docs for the new feature #### Bugfixes: * [x] This pull request breaks the existing API * [x] I've added tests to reproduce the issue which are now passing * [x] I'm linking the issue being fixed by this PR ACKs for top commit: ValuedMammal: ACK 4bddb0de6262fb4014d51baf8c9453eb45a3d0ef notmandatory: ACK 4bddb0de6262fb4014d51baf8c9453eb45a3d0ef Tree-SHA512: 662d9bcb1e02f8195d73df16789b8c2aba8ccd7b37ba713ebb0bfd19c66163acbcb6f266b64f88347cbb1f96b88c8a150581012cbf818d1dc8b4437b3e53fc62

About
The bdk libraries aims to provide well engineered and reviewed components for Bitcoin based applications.
It is built upon the excellent rust-bitcoin and rust-miniscript crates.
⚠ The Bitcoin Dev Kit developers are in the process of releasing a
v1.0which is a fundamental re-write of how the library works. See for some background on this project: https://bitcoindevkit.org/blog/road-to-bdk-1/ (ignore the timeline 😁) For a release timeline see theBDK 1.0 project page.
Architecture
The project is split up into several crates in the /crates directory:
wallet: Contains the central high levelWallettype that is built from the low-level mechanisms provided by the other componentschain: Tools for storing and indexing chain datapersist: Types that define data persistence of a BDK walletfile_store: A (experimental) persistence backend for storing chain data in a single file.esplora: Extends theesplora-clientcrate with methods to fetch chain data from an esplora HTTP server in the form thatbdk_chainandWalletcan consume.electrum: Extends theelectrum-clientcrate with methods to fetch chain data from an electrum server in the form thatbdk_chainandWalletcan consume.
Fully working examples of how to use these components are in /example-crates:
example_cli: Library used by theexample_*crates. Provides utilities for syncing, showing the balance, generating addresses and creating transactions without using the bdk_walletWallet.example_electrum: A command line Bitcoin wallet application built on top ofexample_cliand theelectrumcrate. It shows the power of the bdk tools (chain+file_store+electrum), without depending on the mainbdk_walletlibrary.example_esplora: A command line Bitcoin wallet application built on top ofexample_cliand theesploracrate. It shows the power of the bdk tools (chain+file_store+esplora), without depending on the mainbdk_walletlibrary.example_bitcoind_rpc_polling: A command line Bitcoin wallet application built on top ofexample_cliand thebitcoind_rpccrate. It shows the power of the bdk tools (chain+file_store+bitcoind_rpc), without depending on the mainbdk_walletlibrary.wallet_esplora_blocking: Uses theWalletto sync and spend using the Esplora blocking interface.wallet_esplora_async: Uses theWalletto sync and spend using the Esplora asynchronous interface.wallet_electrum: Uses theWalletto sync and spend using Electrum.
Minimum Supported Rust Version (MSRV)
This library should compile with any combination of features with Rust 1.63.0.
To build with the MSRV you will need to pin dependencies as follows:
cargo update -p zstd-sys --precise "2.0.8+zstd.1.5.5"
cargo update -p time --precise "0.3.20"
cargo update -p home --precise "0.5.5"
cargo update -p proptest --precise "1.2.0"
cargo update -p url --precise "2.5.0"
